How MicroTunnel Works

Core Components

MicroTunnel comprises four major components:

  1. The Server Runner
  2. The Workstation Runner
  3. The Technician Dashboard
  4. The Cloud Orchestration Engine

Server Runner

Runs on servers. Maintains local groups, network-access users, and network-access tokens—keeping everything up to date with the Cloud Orchestration Engine. You can have multiple servers in a single organization; MicroTunnel keeps groups and network-access users synchronized.

Workstation Runner

Runs on Windows PCs. Keeps network-access user IDs, network-access tokens, and stored server connections up to date using Windows Credential Manager. Workstations regularly check their configuration against the Cloud Orchestration Engine to stay current.

Technician Dashboard

Your control plane for MicroTunnel. Import and create users, remove users and groups, modify group membership, and adopt or remove workstations and servers.

Cloud Orchestration Engine

Securely syncs updates between workstations and servers, manages network-access tokens, and hosts the Technician Dashboard.
